Pastor Eric here...
The Bible teaches that baptism occurs after salvation. Jesus instructed us to “make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19).
Baptism is an aspect of discipleship which occurs after someone has repented of their sins and been saved. When Philip led the Ethiopian official to faith in Christ, the guy was baptized immediately after becoming a Christian (Acts 8:26-40).
So we do not baptize infants because we believe baptism occurs after salvation. Baptism is a beautiful symbol, but we believe the reality of salvation must occur first.
In the same manner, children and teenagers who do profess their faith in Christ should be baptized because they have been saved. And baptism is an important symbol and aspect of discipleship.
