I am a scientist and firm believer in evolution, as well as, a devout Christian. Does Christ Fellowship have a point of view on evolution?

Hi Nicolle

To answer your question simply we at Christ Fellowship do not believe that evolution is in any way true.

To add some validity to my statement I would like to list some thoughts worthy (I think) of consideration as to why the theory of evolution is untenable. Bear in mind, however that each thought is brief and whole books have been written by brilliant minds to flesh them out.

At the end of the list I would like to suggest some good resources (books and videos) that you may enjoy for further study.

1.If evolution is true than GOD is a liar
GOD claims in many places to have made the heavens and the earth and everything in them. If all things came about by evolution than GOD is lying or delusional. Which if He was either would mean that HE in truth is not GOD.
"In the beginning GOD
created the heavens and the earth"
----Genesis 1:1
"SO GOD created man in HIS own image
in the image of GOD HE created them
male and female HE created them"
---Genesis 1:27
"Through HIM all things were made
without HIM nothing was made that has been made."
----John 1:3
You may be thinking that perhaps GOD started it all then walked away letting things evolve to the level we have today. But that is not what the Bible says. If GOD can create the rudimentary "stuff" from which things supposedly evolved then HE could also make them fully .
2, Evolutionists cannot duplicate even the first life
Evolutionists speak with certainty that we have evolved. Yet we have to admit that evolution is called a theory and not a law for at least one very good reason. That being the most foundational part of the theory can't be duplicated.
Here is what I mean by that. Suppose we did evolve. Somewhere in time a certain amount of chemicals were fused together by a power source and the first living organism came into being.
From what I have been told and read we should know exactly what that first creature was composed of and exactly how it came to life for anyone to say with certainty and finality that GOD was not needed because we know exactly how life came about.
So an evolutionist knowing all this about the first life should be able to create life again at will. We have tremendous resources at our disposal to do such a thing. Yet no one anywhere in the world has been able to accomplish this.
Since we cannot create life to validate that the must basic part of evolution is true we cannot say with certainty that GOD did not do it.
3. Intelligent design
What is Intelligent design? Intelligent design is a Creationist position that states, (in short form) that things are way to complicated to have come about by chance. Let me illustrate this.
Take a car for an example of intelligent design. Every car is composed of hundreds upon hundreds of parts. The engine for example has pistons, piston rings, crank shafts, nuts and bolts , spark plugs, oil pan, carburetor and timing chains to name a few.
These in turn are designed with many separate parts to them all fitting precisely into a certain place fastened by bolts of a precise size with a pattern built into it to twist into a nut which in turn is made So that it can receive the twisting bolt to an exact measurement. If any part is a fraction off not only will they not work but neither will the rest of the engine.
The point is that this preciseness did not happen by accident. No one would ever think that a car could come about by chance over billions of years of explosions in a car parts factory. Someone with intelligence had to design it. People, animals and even the simple virus are far more complicated than a car.
The human is composed of cells. Each cell has a nucleus and in their nucleus is the DNA and that in turn is framed by genomes. Each person has some seven billion genomes per cell. These genomes are like code that has locked in it everything about the whole body. That could include the heart, blood, skin , eyes etc.. It is way to complicated to have happened by chance. This degree of design needed intelligence for it to come about.
Even the lowly virus has 64,000 genomes.
The conclusion is that even a first generation cell. the predecessor to all life would have had to be incredibly complicated. Too complicated to have happened by chance.
4. Resources for further study
a. Unlocking the mystery of Life
This is an excellent DVD put out by "Illustra Media " (www.illustramedia.com) They have several other DVDs all of which are first class.
b. Mount St. Helens
This is another DVD. What it does is show that in some cases the huge numbers of years ascribed to certain things like the grand canyon may not be necessarily so. This speaks to the huge numbers of years needed for evolution to work. Institute for Creation Research (P.O. Box 2667, El Cajon, Ca.92021; http://www.icr.org/: (800)-628-7640 )
c. Darwin's Black Box By Michael J. Behe
This is one of many good books which establish the creationist's position.
Your question was a very important one Nicolle. I hope that our answer made the position of Christ Fellowship clear and also gave some food for thought.

I wish all the world could understand this. it is a very well written explanation and it will help clarify a lot of questions in regards to evolution.
